Job Description

This is a full-time position involving teaching at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, primarily covering courses such as asset pricing and quantitative finance, financial markets and risk management, machine learning in finance, artificial intelligence applied to finance, quantitative asset management, fintech and financial innovation, as well as sustainable and environmental finance. The role also includes supervising master's theses and doctoral dissertations.

The primary objective of this position is to strengthen the research and teaching capacities of the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM) in the field of finance, with a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence applied to finance. The position will also contribute to reinforcing the University of Geneva's role in the activities of the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI), including research, doctoral training, master's programs, and international academic visibility in rapidly growing areas related to AI and finance.

We are particularly interested in candidates with an already established international scientific reputation, capable of playing a central role in the future development of the GFRI and in sustainably strengthening its international scientific standing, while actively contributing to the academic missions of GSEM.

The selected candidate should be able to significantly enhance GFRI's research output, strengthen teaching offerings at all academic levels, foster interdisciplinary collaborations within the University, and increase the Faculty's international visibility. The successful candidate will also be expected to take on managerial and organizational responsibilities related to their role within the GFRI, actively engage with the GSEM community, collaborate with its various stakeholders, and contribute to GFRI initiatives. Affiliation with the GFRI will provide the selected candidate with an attractive, internationally recognized scientific environment that is a member of the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI).

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • The candidate must hold a PhD.
  • Demonstrate research excellence, evidenced by a strong publication record in leading economics journals.
  • Proven expertise in artificial intelligence and finance.
  • The ability to connect high-quality academic research with economic policy debates will be considered a major asset.
  • Teaching experience in artificial intelligence and finance at various academic levels, along with strong pedagogical skills, is expected.
  • The candidate must be able to teach in English; the ability to teach in French will be considered an advantage.
