As an AI Platform Engineer, you are part of a dedicated AI Enabling Team within our Platform Developer Experience Area. The team's mission is to make AI-assisted engineering a first-class capability at Digitec Galaxus, from the developer platform our engineers build on, to the AI products and agents our teams ship into production. A core part of this is building the knowledge foundation that humans and agents alike rely on: unified search, curated context, and the infrastructure to keep both grounded in our actual systems. You will help shape how our engineers and internal tools use AI safely, efficiently, and with measurable impact.

Deine Aufgaben

  • Make AI-assisted engineering and agentic workflows a first-class citizen in our developer platform
  • Own central AI products (AI Registry, internal MCP Server, AI Chat) critical to company strategy, evolving them from side projects to production-grade services
  • Partner with platform teams to improve agent experience, and collaborate with the AI Guild to share feedback and best practices
  • Build guardrails for data privacy, security, and compliance
  • Create a curated catalog of approved AI tools to prevent shadow AI
  • Evolve AI infrastructure to enterprise-grade: introduce transparent cost monitoring, and build a flexible AI gateway with self-hosted model support
  • Establish benchmarks and evaluation frameworks to keep model choices data-driven, and curate internal knowledge for reliable AI agent consumption

Deine Fähigkeiten

  • Higher education in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, with several years of hands-on experience building and operating production systems
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals in a modern backend stack (e.g. Python, C#/.NET), and confidence working across the full lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and operations
  • Practical experience with modern AI tooling such as LLM APIs, agent frameworks, RAG, prompt and evaluation pipelines, or tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, ideally including having built something non-trivial with them
  • Familiarity with knowledge architecture concepts - semantic search, metadata graphs, retrieval pipelines, documentation tooling
  • Solid platform and DevOps/MLOps mindset, covering containerization, CI/CD, cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure), Infrastructure-as-Code, and observability
  • Awareness of data privacy, security, and compliance considerations when working with AI tools and sensitive data, and the pragmatism to balance these with developer velocity
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset, enabling you to collaborate effectively with different stakeholders, and to drive topics forward
  • Fluent English as mandatory, while German is an advantage
  • A willingness to challenge «how things have always been done» and propose more efficient, automated or effective solutions
  • Using creativity and initiative to solve problems and achieve goals
